The Cattle Sheds at East Barn dates from the 18th century, originally belonging to the Georgian Knapton House farming estate, which is nearby. it is set in a rural location just one mile from the beach at Mundesley in 'an area outstanding natural beauty'. Close to the Norfolk Broads national park. Mundesley Breach which is a blue flag awarded beach.
Set back from the road it offers complete privacy with its own enclosed court yard and garden. The architect designed barn conversion has a light spacious warm double height open plan living area, with a contemporary kitchen. A dining area and sunroom which leads to the south facing part walled enclosed garden.
The single level layout makes this ideal for young families. The Cattle Sheds has 3 bedrooms. The Master bedroom has an ensuite bathroom, a large second bedroom, and a twin bedroom, meaning that up to 6 adults can be accommodated. The Cattle sheds also has a family bathroom, a utility room, and cloak room. The Cattle Sheds have been furnished and decorated with light colours and offer the feeling of being 'a home away from home'.
Visitors have commented positively on the very well-appointed kitchen, this includes a large breakfast-bar with seating. With a large dining table nearby in the open-plan sunroom. For 'outdoor dining' there is a large table with six chairs. The garden is south facing and a real sun trap.
The spacious property has taken advantage of new technology to become a very low energy building, underfloor heating combined with a biomass boiler and hot water heating solar panels mean that all the hot water for washing and heating comes from renewable sources. By staying at the Cattle sheds guests can have all the conveniences of modern life, whilst still having a green holiday, without any compromise to comfort.
The rural location is ideally suited to walkers, those with dogs and cyclists. The Cattle Sheds are situated on a bridleway and footpath that connects with a network of footpaths across stunning countryside. The small village of Knapton is situated between Mundesley and the market town of North Walsham, it is a small quiet rural village, perfect for getting away from things.
The spectacular North Norfolk coast offers 90 miles of beaches, the closest is Mundesley beach, only a mile away and wonderful for families. Bacton woods and the newly restored Dilham to North Walsham canal offer lovely walks locally, both are only a few minutes away.
There are many activities offered in the local area, North Norfolk caters to many tastes for holiday makers, both Cromer with it’s wonderful pier or Sheringham with the North Norfolk railway heritage line running steam trains between Sheringham and Holt.
